ECB rate hike should be ‘more gradual’ than 50 bps, Visco says

KOENIGSWINTER, Germany (Reuters) – The European Central Bank should raise its policy rate out of negative territory in a “more gradual” way than suggested by some, ECB policymaker Ignazio Visco said on Friday.

The Bank of Italy’s governor was responding to a question about a possible 50-basis-point rate hike, floated by his Dutch peer Klaas Knot in recent days.
